Winigan 4-H and Community Fair set for September 6-8

The Winigan 4-H and Community Fair is scheduled to take place from September 6 through September 8, offering a variety of activities and events for all ages.

The fair will kick off on Friday, September 6, with a fish and chicken fry from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The meal costs $10 for adults and $5 for children ages four to 10. At 7 p.m., vocalist Kennedy Parrish is set to perform, with a pie and hay bale auction to be held during intermission.

On Saturday, September 7, a $5 breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., followed by the 4-H livestock show at 9 a.m. The day will also feature a truck and tractor show from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A kiddie parade for youth aged 15 and younger will begin at 10:45 a.m., followed by the main parade at 11 a.m. A roast beef lunch is planned for 11:30 a.m.

Additional activities on Saturday include a baby show and a juggler starting at 1 p.m., with games beginning at 1:30 p.m. The Ole Coot Scooters relays and a kids’ pedal tractor pull are both scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Dinner featuring hamburgers and hot dogs will be available from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The day will conclude with a quilt raffle drawing at 6:30 p.m., and the closing of the silent auction. The True Men, a Capella group is scheduled to perform at 7 p.m., with another pie and hay bale auction during intermission. A “Capella group” typically refers to a group associated with or performing in the style of music from a “chapel” or “capella.” The term “Capella” in Italian means “chapel,” and historically, it referred to music composed for church services, often featuring vocal and instrumental elements.

The fair will close on Sunday, September 8, with a community worship service at 10 a.m., followed by a carry-in dinner. A shooting challenge is planned for 2 p.m.

Attendees are reminded that no alcohol is allowed at the Winigan 4-H and Community Fair. Those attending are also encouraged to bring lawn chairs. Proceeds from the event will support Winigan community facilities.
