What north Missouri voters will decide at the polls in today’s election

Voters across Missouri head to the polls in the primary election to nominate candidates for the November election. The balloting includes county, district, and statewide offices, with polls open until 7 p.m.

Local election results will be announced tonight on KTTN at 92.3 FM. Due to the Kansas City Royals baseball game broadcast, KTTN News will provide election updates periodically. The entire Royals game can be heard on AM 1600 and 98.3 FM in the Trenton area.

Grundy County has eight polling locations, each with two precincts. Four of these are within Trenton:

  • 1st ward and Jefferson township vote at the Courthouse
  • 2nd ward and Lincoln township vote at the Ketcham Community Center
  • 3rd ward and Harrison township vote at First Christian Church
  • 4th ward and Jackson township vote at the First Baptist Church recreational center

Other polling locations in Grundy County include:

  • Liberty and Myers township vote at Galt Baptist Church
  • Franklin and Washington township vote at Spickard Christian Church
  • Wilson and Marion Township vote at the Laredo Community Building
  • Madison and Taylor townships vote at the Edinburg Baptist Church

Several races within the Green Hills counties involve only Republican party candidates, as no local Democratic races are being contested.

A key race drawing considerable interest is the 3rd Circuit Court Judge, serving Grundy, Mercer, Harrison, and Putnam counties. The winner of the primary is unopposed in November.

In Grundy County, two candidates are competing for each of the two associate county commission seats. Washington Township voters are deciding on continuing an additional 35-cent tax levy.

Other key races include:

  • Mercer County: Two commissioner seats with three candidates each in the first and second districts
  • Harrison County: Three candidates for the northern district commissioner and two for the southern district
  • Putnam County: Three candidates for western district commissioner and two for coroner
  • Sullivan County: Three candidates for sheriff, two for western district commissioner, and two for assessor. Milan voters are deciding on a local use tax of one percent.
  • Daviess County: Races for sheriff and collector-treasurer, with two candidates each
  • Caldwell County: Two candidates each for western and eastern district commissioner
  • Linn County: Three candidates for sheriff
  • Livingston County: A two-person race for western district commissioner and a three-way race for coroner

For the 6th District Congressman in northern Missouri, the Republican party has four candidates, while the Democratic party has two.

Statewide, voters are nominating candidates for U.S. Senate, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, and Secretary of State.
