The Kelly Poling Arts District will soon receive a vibrant facelift, courtesy of the 2024-25 student volunteer team, affectionately known as the “Main-iacs on Main.” On Sunday, August 25, these dedicated volunteers will repaint the crosswalks within the district, with work scheduled from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

To ensure the safety of all participants, Locust Street will be closed from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on the day of the event. This street closure will allow the volunteers to focus on their tasks without interruptions. The team has already completed the crosswalk at the intersection of Locust and Clay Streets, showcasing their commitment to enhancing the community.

This project serves as more than just a painting session; it is an opportunity for the community to come together and support the Main-iacs on Main. The initiative not only contributes to the beautification of the neighborhood but also strengthens community bonds.

Following the painting session, the public is invited to the Main-iacs on Main Induction Party, celebrating the 2024-25 CHS student volunteers. This event will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on the same day, immediately after the crosswalk painting. The casual evening will include introductions, music, snacks, drinks, and networking, providing a chance to honor the young individuals who are making a positive impact on the community.

Community members are encouraged to attend, participate, and help create a memorable experience for the student volunteers. This event offers an excellent opportunity to show appreciation for the efforts of these young volunteers, who are playing an integral role in improving the local area.

Monetary donations to support this event can be made to Main Street Chillicothe, either by cash, check, or online at this link. Donations will be used exclusively for youth group activities and projects. In-kind donations, including soda, bottled water, individually packaged snacks, snack chips, candy, and local restaurant gift certificates, are also welcome.

For more information or concerns regarding the street closure, the Main Street Chillicothe office can be contacted at 660-646-4071, or by email at office@downtownchilli.com.
