Five ordinances and four topics are listed for discussion at the next meeting of the Trenton City Council. The meeting is at 7 p.m. on Monday, August 12, at Trenton City Hall. It will also be available via Zoom, but online viewers must contact City Hall to receive the Zoom identification.

Two of the proposed ordinances are with the Howe Engineering Company. One involves planning for drainage improvements at City Hall, and the other involves planning for drainage improvements at 13th and Main Streets. The council will consider a proposal or work order for the Green Hills Regional Planning Commission to provide professional grant-writing and administrative services.

With recommended approval from the Planning and Zoning Commission, the council will give the final say on a request from building owner Lynn Davenport to subdivide the property at 18-23 East 9th Street into three parcels. Another ordinance reaffirms the conflict of interest code.

Discussion topics for the city council include a potential electric rate adjustment for Trenton Municipal customers, the city’s proposed cash match on an application to be submitted to the state for a community development block grant regarding future demolitions, and a bid for an outside firm to provide tree trimming services.

Councilman Glen Briggs requested a discussion on city contributions to the community fireworks fund. No action was taken when the mayor approached the subject at the June 24 meeting of the city council.
