The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control has announced the arrest of Shonda M. Martin, 36, of Bunker, Missouri, and Brandi N. McClanahan, 43, of Ellington, Missouri. The two women were arrested on July 25, 2024, on one count each of sexual conduct in the course of public duty.

In June 2022 (25 months ago), the Reynolds County Sheriff requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol investigate allegations of inappropriate sexual contact between two county employees and an inmate at the Reynolds County Jail. The investigation was conducted by the Division of Drug and Crime Control Troop G Criminal Investigations Unit and submitted to the Reynolds County Prosecuting Attorney.

On July 25, 2024, a special prosecutor, requested by the Reynolds County Prosecuting Attorney, formally charged Martin and McClanahan with one count each of sexual conduct in the course of public duty. Martin is currently being held in the Dent County Jail with a $5,000 bond, while McClanahan is being held in the Texas County Jail, also with a $5,000 bond.
