Two injured in single-vehicle crash on I-35 north of Cameron

A single-vehicle crash occurred on Interstate 35 at the 55-mile marker, just north of Cameron, Missouri, in the early hours of September 1, 2024. The accident, which took place around 5:00 a.m., involved a 2000 Toyota 4Runner driven by Luci N. Pineda, 38, of Farmington, Minnesota.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Toyota 4Runner was traveling southbound on Interstate 35 when it veered into the median. The driver, Pineda, overcorrected, causing the vehicle to return to the roadway and overturn. The SUV came to rest on its top, blocking both lanes of southbound Interstate 35 and facing south.

Two occupants of the vehicle were injured in the crash. Nexy G. Escobar, 27, of St. Paul, Minnesota, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Cameron Regional Medical Center by DeKalb Clinton EMS. Another passenger, Yefri A. Salines, 27, also of St. Paul, Minnesota, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County EMS.

The Toyota 4Runner was totaled and towed from the scene by Scotty’s Towing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Trooper B.T. Quiring, the Cameron Police Department, and the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.
