Two injured in collision on Highway 63 south of La Plata

A two-vehicle collision on Highway 63, two miles south of La Plata, Missouri, resulted in minor injuries to two individuals on the evening of September 1, 2024. The crash occurred at approximately 8:25 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident involved a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, driven by a 17-year-old juvenile from Marceline, Missouri, and a 1999 Chevrolet truck, driven by Tyler L. McHenry, 33, of Anabel, Missouri. The Chevrolet Malibu, traveling northbound, collided with the Chevrolet truck, which was heading eastbound and pulled into the path of the Malibu.

The Chevrolet Malibu was totaled and towed from the scene by Kirksville Auto. The Chevrolet truck sustained moderate damage and was removed by a family member.

The 17-year-old driver and a passenger, Christopher A. Dixon, 22, both sustained minor injuries. They were both wearing seat belts and were transported by private vehicle to Northeast Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Trooper Sapp was assisted at the scene by the Macon County Sheriff’s Department, La Plata Police Department, La Plata First Responders, and Macon County Ambulance.
