Two from Trenton involved in multi-vehicle crash on Highway 63

A multi-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 1:20 p.m. on December 12, 2023, at the intersection of Northbound Highway 63 and East Highway 124 in Boone County. The crash involved a 2016 Chevrolet Express Van and a 2019 Peterbilt 357 power unit towing a 2016 Fontenelle trailer.

According to the report filed by Trooper C.A. Fox, the Chevrolet Express Van, driven by Jeremy H. Fulk, 29, of Trenton, Missouri, was traveling northbound on Highway 63. Concurrently, the Peterbilt, operated by Bernard W. Kintz, 44, of Union, Missouri, was heading westbound. The Peterbilt began crossing Highway 63 and was subsequently struck by the Chevrolet van.

The van sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Economy Towing. The Peterbilt, however, experienced minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene.

Injuries and Hospitalizations:

  • Jeremy H. Fulk suffered minor injuries and was transported to University Hospital by Boone Ambulance.
  • Richard L. Kerksiek, 34, from Warrensburg, Missouri, a passenger in the Chevrolet van, sustained moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to University Hospital.
  • John C. Novello, 36, of unknown residence, also a passenger in the Chevrolet, received minor injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to University Hospital.
  • Dustin S. Burkhart, 40, from Camdenton, Missouri, sustained moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to University Hospital.
  • Shelby J. McGowan, 43, from Trenton, Missouri, suffered minor injuries but was wearing a seat belt. He was taken to University Hospital.
  • Raymond J. Nugen, 44, of Hazelwood, Missouri, received moderate injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported to University Hospital by University Ambulance.
  • John M. Holland, 46, from Sikeston, Missouri, sustained moderate injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt and was transported to University Hospital by University Ambulance.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Sergeant D.T. Shikles, Trooper S.L. Ponder, and the Hallsville Police Department.
