Trenton Municipal Utilities (TMU) Director Ron Urton provided updates on ongoing projects during a committee meeting on Tuesday afternoon.

The electric distribution crew is nearing the completion of a 13.2-kilovolt line along Chestnut Street to the North Central Missouri College (NCMC) student center. Completion is contingent on the college setting the necessary transformer. Additionally, electrical service is now available for the upcoming Taco Bell construction at the corner of 9th and Oklahoma Streets. The crew also plans to install street lights along the north side of Highway 6, extending to the Dollar General Store. Tree-trimming work, managed by a contractor, is scheduled to begin next week.

At the water treatment plant, modifications to the clarifier continue. The contractor has finished demolition work on the west basin and is preparing to pour new concrete. Grading work has been completed at the reservoir pump station, with seeding and mulching to follow shortly.

Urton also reported that phase two of the 10th and Oklahoma water main project is nearing completion, with only seeding and mulching work remaining, expected to be finished by the end of the month.

In the sewer department, a contractor has concluded cleaning and video inspections in preparation for the lining of sewer mains. Installation will commence once the liner material is available.

Regarding TMU’s substation operations, Urton reported that 11 diesel generators successfully passed Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engines (RICE) testing. However, one unit at the south substation has mechanical issues, and TMU is planning repairs. An exemption from testing that unit has been requested, as all six of its “sister units” passed with similar emission test results.
