Trenton Firefighters respond to smoke incident at Plaza Apartments

On July 18, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Trenton Fire Department responded to a fire alarm activation at 715 Main St. Plaza Apartments, owned by Ozella Biswell.

Upon arrival, firefighters found no smoke visible from the exterior, however, light smoke was detected inside the apartment. Firefighters quickly entered the premises and discovered a pot on the stove, which the tenant had forgotten to turn off before leaving.

Using a ventilation fan, the firefighters effectively cleared the smoke from the apartment. No injuries were reported, and there was no significant damage to the property. The cause of the fire was determined to be unattended cooking.

Several departments assisted in the response, including the Grundy County Rural Fire Department, Grundy County Ambulance, Trenton Police, Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, and the Missouri Highway Patrol.
