When the Trenton City Council meets on August 26, a public hearing will be conducted before tax levies are set for the city’s general fund and the park department fund. The proposal is to have a combined levy of nearly $1.19 ($1.1889) on $100 of assessed valuation. The proposed levy includes $1.00 for the city and nearly 19 cents ($0.1889) for parks.

The hearing provides an opportunity for anyone from the public to comment on the tax levy. It will be part of the August 26 council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. at Trenton City Hall.

The assessed valuation for real estate, personal property, railroad, and utilities within the city of Trenton totals nearly $59.13 million ($59,128,961) for the current tax year (2024). That’s an increase of almost $819,000 from the prior tax year (2023), which was $58.31 million ($58,310,077).
