Several addresses were added to the city of Trenton’s nuisance list during a meeting last night at city hall. The Trenton Building and Nuisance Board took action based on recommendations from Building Inspector Wes Barone.

Among those added to the nuisance list are two unoccupied former business buildings in downtown Trenton: 909 Main (Mart Drug) and 907 Main (Smith Clothing). Other locations placed on the nuisance list are 601 Pleasant View, 1711 Mable Street, and 1610 Cedar Street. A board member referred 2101 Lulu Street to Barone for further review.

The board decided to have Barone send a letter to the owner of 107 East 17th Street, requesting that the grass be mowed and brush cut within seven days.

A certificate of a dangerous building has been recorded on a deed at the courthouse for the former JC Penny building at Eastgate. In response to a question, Barone said utilities remain on to allow for contractor repairs to begin.

With no activity at 1413 Main Street, the board moved it to the category of a certificate of existence of a dangerous building.

Because some progress has been noted, three other locations received 30-day extensions: 608 West 10th Street, 2418 Fisherman Road, and the trailer court at 120 Highland Street.

Regarding fire-damaged houses, Barone reported that 718 West Crowder Road has been demolished, with 1414 East 13th Court next on the contractors’ demolition list.
