It was reported that there are more than 11,000 names and addresses in the Trenton High School alumni database. The list was initially maintained using three-by-five index cards. It was later moved to a computerized database, making it easier for alumni officials to post updates about changes, additions, and deletions.

Dr. John Holcomb of Trenton is the vice president of the Trenton Alumni Association and the Foundation Trust for Trenton High School. As a child, he and his parents attended the reunion:

The Trenton High School Alumni Association was formed in November 1948, with the first reunion occurring 75 years ago. That was in 1949 and included a picnic in Moberly Park and a dance at the Gables Supper Club. The second and third reunions were held at Moberly Park and Crowder State Park in 1950 and 1951, respectively. It was then decided to hold the Trenton alumni reunion annually over the Labor Day weekend.

The Foundation Trust for Trenton High School was formed in 1982. At their meeting on Sunday, the board voted to spend $15,000 on requests made by R-9 Superintendent Daniel Gott. The money will go toward new risers for the vocal music department and two pottery wheels for the art department. Some funds will be used for what are called “calming stations.”

Superintendent Daniel Gott responded after hearing about the donation.

“The Foundation Trust for Trenton High School has generously donated $15,000 to the Trenton R-IX School District, demonstrating its ongoing commitment to enhancing the quality of education in our community. We are incredibly grateful for this generous donation from the Foundation Trust for Trenton High School. This contribution will significantly aid in our mission to provide the best possible educational experience for our students.

The donation will be allocated to various areas within the district to support and enhance educational opportunities, including the purchase of new risers for the vocal music department, new wheels for the THS ceramics class, and supplies to create calming corners at Rissler Elementary and Trenton Middle School.

If you are an Alumnus of the Trenton R-IX School District and would like to help, it’s as simple as paying your $20.00 Alumni dues. Contributions can be sent to P.O. Box 185 Trenton, MO 64683, or via PayPal at thsalumni49@gmail.com.”

A reorganizational meeting of the board is scheduled for November 3.
