Teen driver’s failure to yield leads to crash near Winston

A 17-year-old woman from Bethany, Missouri, was involved in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 69 and Interstate 35, eight miles north of Winston, Missouri. The accident occurred at 4:30 p.m. on August 9, 2024.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the teenager was driving a 2013 Ford Escape northbound when she failed to yield to a westbound 1995 Ford F150 driven by Michael F. Emerson, 63, of Pattonsburg, Missouri. The vehicles collided within the intersection.

Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels facing east. The Ford Escape sustained total damage, while the Ford F150 had extensive damage. Bridgeman’s Towing removed both vehicles from the scene.

Emerson, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered moderate injuries. He was taken to Cameron Regional Medical Center by Daviess County Ambulance. The teenage driver was not reported injured and was not wearing a seat belt.
