Jillian Vogelsmeier of Sweet Springs earned the title of exhibitor of the 2024 Grand Champion Market Lamb at the Missouri State Fair. A member of the Sweet Springs FFA Chapter, Jillian’s prize-winning lamb weighed in at 146 pounds, securing her a top spot at the fair.

The Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb title was awarded to Jordann Doty of Maryville. Jordann, who is a member of the Northeast Bluejays 4-H Club, exhibited a lamb weighing 161 pounds. She is the daughter of Philip and Randa Doty.

Both Jillian and Jordann will have the opportunity to sell their lambs at the Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions on Saturday, Aug. 17. Their lambs will be featured in two of the 12 lots offered during the auction, which supports the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture (YIA) Scholarship Program, administered by the Missouri State Fair Foundation.

The Sale of Champions is a time-honored tradition where exhibitors compete to earn a place in the auction ring. The auction will also feature Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion Steers, Barrows, Lambs, Meat Goats, Pens of Chickens, and Pens of Rabbits. The event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall.
