St. Joseph woman injured in Highway 71 crash

On August 3, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., a single-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 71, two miles west of Savannah, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident involved a 2016 Kia Soul driven by Deanna L. Stewart, 47, of St. Joseph, Missouri.

The crash happened as the northbound Kia Soul traveled off the east side of the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned multiple times. The vehicle then returned to the roadway and came to rest on its wheels, facing south in the northbound lanes.

Stewart, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, sustained serious injuries. She was transported to Mosaic Life Care by Andrew County Ambulance. The vehicle was totaled and towed by Blue Knight Towing.

Assistance at the scene was provided by Corporal S.J. Force, Trooper M.W. Neely, and the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department.
