A single-vehicle accident occurred early Monday morning on Olive Drive, approximately one mile south of Holt 245 and four miles northwest of Oregon, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident took place at around 2:30 a.m. on August 12, 2024.

The accident involved a 2021 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Chris A. Kurtz, 64, of Oregon, Missouri. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Olive Drive when it veered off the east side of the roadway. Kurtz managed to return the vehicle to the road, but it subsequently traveled off the west side of the roadway. After returning to the road a second time, Kurtz failed to negotiate a curve, causing the Silverado to travel off the west side of the roadway again, where it went through a field, struck a tree, and came to rest on its wheels.

Kurtz, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries in the crash. He was transported by private vehicle to Fairfax Community Hospital for treatment. The Silverado sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Double-D Towing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Corporal K.L. Ebersold.
