The Northwest Missouri State Fair will be held from August 29th to September 2nd, 2024, in Bethany, Missouri. The fair is packed with a variety of events, livestock shows, and community activities designed to entertain visitors of all ages.

Tickets

Tickets went on sale July 1st and can be purchased online or at Cole Hardware in Bethany, Missouri. General admission tickets and event-specific tickets are available, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Grandstand Events

The grandstand events are a major highlight of the fair, featuring an exciting lineup each day:

Livestock Shows

The fair will showcase a variety of livestock competitions, with strict guidelines ensuring fair play and animal health:

  • Beef: Exhibitors can show up to two breeding animals per class. There are strict guidelines regarding grooming and health checks.
  • Swine: Barrows and crossbred gilts will be shown, divided into weight classes. Exhibitors must provide registration certificates for all breeding animals.
  • Sheep: Market lambs must be slick sheared. Wethers and ewes can be shown as market lambs. Clipping must follow State Fair rules.
  • Goats: Divided into weight classes, goats must meet health and grooming requirements similar to the Missouri State Fair. Exhibitors are limited to two entries per class.
  • Fowl: Exhibitors must own their poultry by April 1st of the current year. The show takes place on August 31st, and entry is $2 per bird.
  • Rabbits: Exhibitors need a health certificate and must pre-register by August 26th. The show includes showmanship and a BBQ provided by Farmers Bank of Northern MO.

Liberal Arts and Parade

The Liberal Arts section offers numerous opportunities for exhibitors to showcase their skills in crafts, preservation, and other homemade items. Entries must be submitted on August 28th and will remain on display until September 2nd.

The annual parade will take place on Thursday, August 29th, starting at 6:00 PM. Participants will register between 5:00-6:00 PM at the Bethany Community Gym. The parade route travels from the gym, west on Main Street, and south on 12th Street to the fairgrounds. The parade welcomes clubs, businesses, and individuals, including antique cars and tractors.
