A Grant City resident, Colt Ridge, has grown the largest pumpkin seen at the Missouri State Fair in 24 years. Weighing in at an impressive 936 pounds, the giant pumpkin earned Ridge a blue ribbon for winning the fair’s largest pumpkin contest.

This year marked Ridge’s first participation in the contest. Despite being a newcomer, his success has already sparked plans for the future. Ridge and his family are excited about what they will do with the enormous orange gourd now that the contest is over.

Looking ahead, Ridge hopes to enter the largest pumpkin contest again if he manages to grow another pumpkin of significant size.

The Missouri Master Gardeners Association sponsored the largest pumpkin contest, continuing its long-standing tradition of celebrating agricultural achievements.
