Rear-end collision on Highway 169 injures St. Joseph woman

A rear-end collision occurred on Highway 169, three miles south of St. Joseph, Missouri, at 3:18 p.m. on August 10, 2024. The accident involved a 2023 Toyota Camry and a 2020 Ram Big Horn, both traveling southbound.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened as the driver of the Toyota Camry, Laurie L. Brown, 66, of St. Joseph, Missouri, slowed to make a right turn. The Ram Big Horn, driven by Mark B. Richardson, 69, of Holt, Missouri, struck the rear of the Camry.

The impact caused the Toyota Camry to veer off the south side of the roadway, where it collided with a sign before coming to a controlled stop. The Ram Big Horn came to a controlled stop on the shoulder of Highway 169.

Brown, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to Mosaic in St. Joseph by Buchanan County EMS. Richardson was not injured and was able to drive his vehicle from the scene. The Toyota Camry sustained total damage and was towed by Collision Repair, while the Ram Big Horn sustained minor damage.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
