The Princeton R-5 Board of Education on Monday evening approved tuition to match the projected state adequacy target. Tuition for 2020-2021 will be $6,375, which is up $67 from 2019-2020.
The board heard updates from school administrators regarding the school closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Prom, baccalaureate, and graduation have been postponed.
Administrators are preparing for a possible budget reduction from state funding for the following fiscal year. Princeton R-5 has three open positions: kindergarten through 12th-grade library, fourth through sixth-grade teacher, and night custodian. However, the district is holding off on hiring until a clearer state budget can be provided. The board will wait to evaluate the budget before hiring additional staff.
After a closed session, it was announced the board approved non-certified and support staff for the 2020-2021 school year.
