Paytient Technologies, a healthcare technology company, announced that it is expanding its home office in Columbia, creating 32 new jobs. The company is expanding its workforce locally, as well as nationally, to meet growing market demand as employers and insurers improve healthcare affordability.

Founded in Columbia in 2018, Paytient created an innovative new benefit, the Health Payment Account, which empowers insured Americans to more easily and confidently access care before their deductible is met. The solution allows members to smooth out-of-pocket costs over time, removing the stress of spiky, unexpected healthcare costs. In 2025, the company will partner with leading Medicare Part D Plan Sponsors and pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to power their Medicare Prescription Payment Plan (M3P) solution, which allows Medicare beneficiaries to smooth copays for covered Part D drugs. Paytient was recently added to the health plans of nearly 45,000 Missourians via its partnerships with Anthem and the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Chamber Benefit Plan.

“Improving the ability to pay for care improves health outcomes,” said Brian Whorley, Paytient Founder and CEO. “The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan ensures all Part D beneficiaries are better able to access and afford healthcare. We believe this has become a standard of care as it relates to health plan design – insurers are building plans that give more people a better opportunity to ensure they’re able to get care.”

In partnership with leading payers and PBMs, Paytient estimates that it will be part of nearly 25 million Americans’ health plans in 2025 with further expansion in 2026. There is a growing demand for its software. In a 2024 survey of the company’s users, 54% of respondents said that they would have skipped some or all care without their Paytient card. For employers and plan sponsors aiming for improving retention, 64% of Paytient respondents reported feeling more likely to keep their job and 92% were more satisfied with their health benefits overall. Paytient has maintained a 90+ Net Promoter Score (NPS) and 4.9 stars on Trustpilot with glowing reviews.

New jobs added as part of Paytient’s expansion will pay an average wage well above the county average.

For this expansion, Paytient will benefit from the Missouri Works program, a tool that helps companies expand and retain workers by providing access to capital through withholdings or tax credits for job creation.

Founded in 2018, Paytient is a healthcare technology company developing innovative solutions that help people more easily and confidently access and afford care. Paytient partners with 6,000+ employers, payers, and leading healthcare providers, including Hyatt, R.R. Donnelley, Cigna, Centene, and Delta Dental, and will serve 25 million Americans by 2025.
