Ozark man dies in motorcycle crash on Highway 65 north of Branson

A fatal accident occurred on August 20, 2024, at approximately 7:51 p.m. on Highway 65, eight miles north of Branson, Missouri. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash involved a 2017 Indian Chieftain Dark Horse motorcycle driven by 56-year-old James M. Turk of Ozark, Missouri.

The incident took place as the motorcycle traveled northbound and veered off the left side of the roadway. The motorcycle overturned in the median, crossed into the southbound lanes, and struck the guardrail. The crash resulted in extensive damage to the motorcycle, which was towed by Finley River Towing of Ozark, Missouri.

James M. Turk, the driver and sole occupant of the motorcycle, sustained fatal injuries in the crash. He was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Taney County Coroner at 7:59 p.m. Turk was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. His body was transported to Adam’s Funeral Home in Ozark, Missouri.

This incident marks the 66th fatality for Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop D in 2024. The investigation was assisted by Master Sergeant S.R. Rowe.
