An individual has died after an officer-involved shooting in Wheeling Thursday evening.

Livingston County Sheriff Steve Cox reports deputies had performed a vehicle stop/investigation and allegedly had problems with the adult male driver. No details at this time have been provided, however, Cox is reporting that the deputy sheriff shot the individual, who was later pronounced dead at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.

The deputy, who was not named at this time, was also treated and later released from Hedrick Medical Center. The officer involved in the shooting is on administrative leave, which Cox notes is a normal procedure.

The sheriff has requested the Missouri State Highway Patrol Division of Drug and Crime Control to handle the investigation.

Highway Patrol Public Information Officer, Sergeant Jake Angle, says no other information has been released from the investigation at this time.
