Winona Johnson obit photoWinona H. Johnson, known to most as Nonie, age 96, a resident of Bogard, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at her residence surrounded by family.

Winona was born the daughter of Ray and Ruth (Bingham) Key, on August 6, 1927, in Coloma, Missouri. The family moved to Victor, Colorado, in 1941 and on to Silver Plume, Colorado, a year later. She graduated from Georgetown High School in 1945, where she met her husband, Joseph Johnson. They were married on December 22, 1945, then moved to Lawton, Oklahoma, as Joe was in the service but returned to Boulder, Colorado, when he was discharged in 1947. They then moved back to Georgetown, where they lived until 1962 when they moved to Lakewood, Colorado. In 1976, they moved to Coloma, Missouri, where they ran the General Store for a few years, and then moved up to the homestead in 1984. Joe preceded her in death on June 6, 1994.

Nonie was a wonderful wife and mother. She adored her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her one true hobby next to nurturing her family was lawn and garden work. She began declining rapidly when she wasn’t able to plant her garden and flower beds.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe; brothers, Ira and Earl (Ethel); sisters, Ruby (Jim) Wooden, and Grace (Clifford) Kerby; and brother-in-law, Peter Tackett.
