North Central Missouri College (NCMC) is set to hold a public hearing to discuss the annual tax levy for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. The hearing is scheduled for August 27, 2024, at 5:25 p.m. in the President’s Office at the Frey Administrative Building in Trenton, Missouri. This meeting will provide an opportunity for citizens to voice their opinions on the proposed property tax rates.

The Board Treasurer, Tyson Otto, has recommended setting the tax levy at $0.399 per $100 of assessed valuation. According to Otto’s memo to the Board, this levy rate is based on the Tax Rate Summary (Pro Forma) provided by the Missouri State Auditor. If the collection rate reaches 100%, this levy would generate approximately $397,800 in local tax revenue.

The proposed property tax revenues for 2024 are detailed as follows:

  • General Fund: $305,000 at a rate of $0.399 per $100 of assessed valuation
  • Delinquent Taxes: $20,000
  • Surtax: $7,000
  • Financial Institution Tax: $800
  • Railroad and Utilities Tax: $65,000

The total assessed valuation for the current tax year is $103,409,733, an increase from the previous year’s valuation of $102,423,330. This valuation includes real estate at $70,475,986 and personal property at $32,933,747.

The Board of Trustees will also meet at 5:30 p.m. following the public hearing. The agenda includes approvals of minutes, financial reports, communications, and reports from various departments, including introducing new employees and considerations for new business, personnel matters, and bids or purchases. The meeting will conclude with an executive session to discuss personnel, legal actions, and real estate transactions under RSMo. 610.021.
