Cole Murphy, son of Brent and DeEtta Murphy, has been named the exhibitor of the 2024 Grand Champion Market Barrow at the Missouri State Fair. A resident of Houstonia and a member of the Sweet Springs FFA Chapter, Cole’s prize-winning barrow weighed in at 281 pounds.
The Reserve Grand Champion Market Barrow honor was awarded to Kade Jackson of Lathrop. Kade, the son of Zeb and Brandy Jackson, is a member of the Liberty 4-H Club. His barrow weighed 275 pounds.
Both Cole and Kade will have the opportunity to sell their champion barrows on Saturday, August 17th, as part of the Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions. They will be featured in two of the 12 lots offered during the sale. The proceeds from this annual event will benefit the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture (YIA) Scholarship Program, which is administered by the Missouri State Fair Foundation.
