The Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control announced the arrest of a Macon man on March 6 for multiple sex offenses. Thirty-four-year-old Johnathon Taylor was apprehended following an investigation by the Troop B Criminal Investigative Unit of the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control.

The Macon County Prosecuting Attorney has requested the Missouri Attorney General’s Office serve as a special prosecutor in the cases against Taylor. On March 6, the Attorney General’s Office charged Taylor with seven counts of second-degree statutory sodomy, six counts of fourth-degree child molestation, and one count each of second-degree statutory rape and patronizing prostitution.

He is currently held at the Randolph County Jail without bond.

In February 2021 and July 2022, the La Plata Police Department sought the assistance of the Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control to investigate two separate allegations of sexual assault of minor females reportedly committed by Taylor. The investigations revealed that Taylor allegedly sexually assaulted two underage girls on multiple occasions, beginning in 2017, at various locations in Macon County.
