Laredo R-7 Board approves tax rollback, school routes, and nurse hire

The Laredo R-7 Board of Education approved rolling back the tax rate to $5.40 during its meeting on Monday evening, August 12. The previous tax rate ceiling was $5.9302.

The board also approved transportation routes, including the provision for students within one mile of the school to be picked up. A late start schedule was approved for the upcoming school year.

Additionally, the board approved the free and reduced lunch eligibility criteria guidelines, the Baseline Salary Grant, the Special Education Compliance Plan, the 2024-2025 Literacy Plan, the Murphy Scholarship, and the 2023-2024 Annual Secretary of the Board Report.

The board approved the hiring of Angela Huffman for a nurse position, to work half a day per week.

An open house for Laredo R-7 will be held on August 19 from 6 to 7 p.m. An I-Ready summer incentive field trip is scheduled for August 27.

The board concluded its meeting with an executive session focused on personnel matters.
