The Laredo Board of Aldermen discussed bids for a sewer project on December 11. City Clerk Mercedes Scobee reported that Smico and Ross Construction submitted bids, with Smico emerging as the apparent lowest bidder.
Before a bid award is granted, the city’s additional funding agencies, including the Community Development Block Grant program and the United States Department of Agriculture, will review the bid documents.
Discussion also took place regarding Christmas bonuses for city employees. It was decided that bonuses of $100 would be distributed to three employees.
Council Member Bruce McFie proposed the formation of a committee next year to organize future Christmas programs.
