A Kidder resident is facing numerous felony allegations of rape and sodomy, accusations that involve a minor and originate from incidents in the 1990s.
According to online court records, 59-year-old Clifford Lee Butterfield is charged in Caldwell County. He faces two counts of rape with a victim younger than 14 years of age, one count of first-degree statutory rape for engaging in sexual intercourse with someone under 14, and two counts of sodomy involving a victim younger than 14 years of age.
Authorities have set a bond of $500,000, stipulating cash-only payment. Additional conditions of Butterfield’s bond include supervision by Supervision Services and a strict directive to avoid any contact with the alleged victim.
The charges follow a probable cause statement, which alleges that the crimes occurred over a period extending from June 1991 to December 1997.
