At the Trenton Rotary Club meeting on Thursday, Aug. 22, Kendall Crowley presented the program, sharing her experiences from a three-month internship in South Africa. The meeting was held at the BTC Bank community room, with Michael Ormsby presiding, Dan Wilford offering the prayer, and Megan Taul serving as sergeant at arms.

Program chairman Cathy McKay introduced Crowley, who recently graduated from Northwest Missouri State University. Crowley discussed her time as one of six interns with Arise Family, a faith-based organization focused on providing holistic support to families and promoting adoption. She highlighted her involvement in two key programs: the 3-Day Holiday Camp for high school students and the Roots to Resilience Program for parents and caregivers. Crowley shared that her internship allowed her to apply her college psychology knowledge and gain insights into her career path in social work and adoption. She also spoke about her personal experiences living in South Africa, including details about her housing, the local cuisine, and various activities she participated in.

During the business portion of the meeting, members signed up to assist with the upcoming Rotary Fish Fry on Sept. 14 at the Rock Barn. The event serves as a fundraiser for the club’s annual donation to the Rotary Foundation, with tickets currently being sold by Rotary members.

Looking ahead, the club announced plans for a “Fifth Thursday” meeting on Aug. 29. Members will gather at the Grundy County Museum annex for a noon meal and meeting before moving to the museum’s main building to view a new exhibit on notable Grundy County residents. Diane Lowrey will oversee the program.
