Jefferson County crash on Highway 67 leaves one dead, two injured

A two-vehicle collision occurred on September 2, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. on southbound Highway 67 at Buck Creek Road in Jefferson County, Missouri. The accident involved a black 2019 Ford Explorer and a red 2015 Nissan Altima, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened when the Nissan Altima, driven by Susan C. Horan, 67, of Festus, Missouri, was attempting to make a left turn onto northbound Highway 67. The Nissan pulled into the path of the Ford Explorer, driven by Whitney J. Tinsley, 35, of Potosi, Missouri, which was traveling southbound on Highway 67. The front of the Ford Explorer struck the driver’s side of the Nissan Altima.

Susan C. Horan was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. She was transported to Mercy Hospital Jefferson, where she was pronounced deceased by Dr. Azharuddin at 3:06 p.m.

Whitney J. Tinsley and a 17-year-old female occupant from Potosi, Missouri, both sustained minor injuries. They were transported by the Joachim Plattin Ambulance District to Mercy Hospital Jefferson for treatment. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Both vehicles were totaled in the collision and were towed from the scene by Miners Towing. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by Trooper D. A. Norton and Trooper C. L. Kurtzman.
