Jeep Renegade and Honda Insight crash near Gower, one injury reported

On December 12, 2023, at approximately 4:20 p.m., a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 116 and US 169, about 4 miles south of Gower, in Clinton County. The crash involved a 2018 Jeep Renegade driven by Payton W. Christiansen, a 22-year-old resident of Liberty, Missouri, and a 2022 Honda Insight operated by Bryan A. Kretzinger, a 45-year-old Gower resident.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Jeep Renegade was traveling westbound on Highway 116 and was at the stop sign. As it attempted to make a left turn, it pulled into the path of the northbound Honda Insight. The Insight struck the driver’s side of the Jeep, leading both vehicles to come to a rest facing northbound in the northbound lane.

The driver of the Honda Insight, Bryan A. Kretzinger, sustained moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Kretzinger was transported by Tri-County EMS to Liberty Hospital for treatment. The Jeep’s driver, Payton W. Christiansen, also had his seat belt fastened and fortunately did not sustain any reported injuries.

Both vehicles suffered significant damage. The Jeep Renegade was described as having extensive damage, while the Honda Insight sustained total damage. Randy’s Towing Service was called to the scene to tow both vehicles.

Assistance at the crash was provided to by Clinton County authorities, as well as Gower Fire and Rescue.
