Jan Clifton VanDeventer, 77, of Chillicothe, Missouri, joined his heavenly family on September 1, 2024. He passed peacefully with Mary Lou, his sweetheart, wife of 59 years, and best friend, at his bedside.
Jan’s survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Jon Fraser; and his grandchildren, Andrew Fraser (Mercedes), Matthew Fraser, Michelle Fraser, and Isaac Brown. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Renea VanDeventer Brown; his parents, George Evan and Vella May VanDeventer; and both siblings, George Elliot VanDeventer and Rosalie VanDeventer.
Jan loved God above everything, adored his wife and family, and treasured his friends. Music was his passion and ministry. In lieu of a traditional funeral, Jan wished for a concert to be held. Please join his family for a musical celebration of life at 3 p.m. on Saturday, September 7, 2024, directly followed by fellowship at the Historical Bethel AME Church, 1308 McNally St, Chillicothe, Missouri, across from the Grand River Historical Museum.
Memorials may be made to Chilli Arts Opry/Chillicothe Area Arts Council (CAAC) and left at the celebration or mailed to Heritage Funeral Home at 3141 Washington St, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
A private family graveside service will be held at a future date at Anderson Smith Cemetery, Chillicothe, Missouri.
