The Jamesport City Council approved the tax levy on August 12. The rate for 2024 was set at 93.61 cents per $100 assessed valuation, the same as in 2023. The rate is allocated as 75.69 cents to the general fund and 17.92 cents to the park fund.
Visitor Larry Griffin discussed the completion of Phase 1 of the street project. His projected costs were $210,712.20, but the actual costs came in at $186,055.85. Griffin noted that the asphalt used in the project contained no recycled materials. Phase 2 is estimated to begin in early spring.
Bob Walker announced his immediate resignation from his position as a part-time maintenance employee.
