A man from southeast Iowa is being held without bond at the Grundy County Detention Center for his alleged involvement in criminal acts at a Trenton business lot.

Charges have been filed in Grundy County against 36-year-old Jacob Alexander Heule. He faces five felony counts related to incidents that occurred Thursday night at the 7th Heaven Convenience Store parking lot at 1419 East 9th Street in Trenton. The charges include attempted first-degree robbery, unlawful use of a weapon, second-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child under 17 years old, and armed criminal action.

Heule is scheduled to appear Tuesday in the associate division of the circuit court.

Court documents accuse Heule of attempting to steal money and a vehicle from a victim. He is accused of displaying a knife in an angry or threatening manner. The defendant allegedly threatened to cut the throats of a victim and a child who was present.

Trenton police responded to a report of an attempted robbery just after 8 p.m. Thursday. The two victims were sitting in a car outside the business when a male approached them at the driver’s side door and allegedly asked for drugs or money before threatening them with a knife. A probable cause statement filed with the court indicates that Heule has prior arrests in Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois for alleged domestic assault and assault on peace officers.
