An investigation is underway following an officer-involved shooting in St. Francois County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control is leading the inquiry at the request of the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the preliminary findings, the incident occurred on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at approximately 2:19 p.m. A deputy from the St. Francois County Sheriff’s Office attempted to initiate a traffic stop near Old Orchard Road. The suspect involved failed to comply, leading to a pursuit.
As the pursuit concluded, the deputy reported that their patrol vehicle had been rammed by the suspect’s vehicle. In response, shots were fired, resulting in the suspect being struck by gunfire. Officers on the scene administered first aid to the suspect until emergency medical services arrived. The suspect was then transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. No other injuries were reported during the incident.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing, with criminal investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control handling the case. Upon completion of the investigation, the findings will be submitted to the St. Francois County Prosecuting Attorney for review.
