The Missouri State Highway Patrol will be conducting driving while intoxicated (DWI) saturations in the area this weekend to enhance road safety by removing impaired drivers from the highways.

Troop H will carry out a DWI saturation in Harrison and Daviess counties on August 31. The primary mission of this operation is to maintain safe road conditions by identifying and removing impaired drivers.

Additionally, Troop B will conduct a DWI saturation covering all its areas from Saturday night, August 31, starting at 11 p.m., to Sunday morning, September 1, ending at 3 a.m. Troop B’s jurisdiction includes the Green Hills counties of Putnam, Sullivan, and Linn. The goal of this operation is to detect impaired drivers and identify other traffic violations that contribute to traffic crashes.

DWI Saturation involves deploying a higher number of law enforcement officers in a specific area to monitor and detect impaired drivers actively. Officers patrol the roads and look for signs of impaired driving or other traffic violations. The goal is to increase the police presence to deter impaired driving and make arrests when necessary. During a DWI saturation, officers may pull over vehicles based on observed driving behaviors, but they do not stop every vehicle.

These enforcement efforts are part of a broader initiative by the Highway Patrol to ensure safer roadways and reduce the number of traffic-related incidents.
