A head-on collision occurred on Route BB, four miles north of Ewing, Missouri, early Monday morning, resulting in injuries to both drivers. The accident took place at approximately 7:05 a.m. on August 19, 2024.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis driven by a 17-year-old male juvenile from Monticello, Missouri, was traveling southbound on Route BB when the vehicle crossed the center line on a curve and struck a northbound 2014 Toyota Sienna. The Toyota Sienna was driven by Hayle D. Swain, 27, of Lewistown, Missouri.

The Mercury Grand Marquis was totaled in the crash and was towed from the scene by Robert’s Garage. The Toyota Sienna sustained extensive damage and was also towed by Robert’s Garage.

The juvenile driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported by Lewis County Ambulance to Blessing Hospital. Swain, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries and was transported by private vehicle to Blessing Hospital.

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the Ewing Fire Department assisted at the scene.
