Grundy County has implemented a new mass notification system through the Hyper-Reach program. Grundy County Emergency Management Director Glen Briggs reports the county signed up for the program this year, which marks a change from the previous system.

The system enables residents to receive calls and/or texts during emergencies and events, such as boil advisories.

The integrated public warning and alert system was added to enhance the county’s notification capabilities.

It is free to sign up for the mass notification system. The cost for the service was divided among the Grundy County Public Water Supply District, the Grundy County Health Department, Grundy County, and the City of Trenton.

If someone has a landline phone, that number is already included in the system. Additionally, cell phone numbers registered in the previous system are also automatically transferred to the new system.

Residents with new cell phone numbers they wish to add should register them via a link on the Grundy County Emergency Management Facebook page or contact the courthouse at 660-359-4040.
