Joshua Stewart from Benton and Associates provided an update on the ongoing city water project and the lead service line inventory during the Galt Board of Aldermen meeting on August 19.

City Clerk Mercedes Scobee reported that all necessary permits for the water project have been approved. The required utility easements for the project are in the process of being finalized. Pending document approval by the Department of Natural Resources project managers, bid advertising for the project is expected to begin in mid-September.

The lead service line inventory team is currently working on a potholing map, which will be used to complete infield verifications as part of the inventory process.

The Board approved an amendment to the existing contract with Benton and Associates, adding bidding phase services to the water project. The amendment, which covers an additional $15,000, will allow Benton and Associates to manage the bidding process for the project.
