Firefighters respond to several grass fires reported near Trenton

On Sunday, the Grundy County Rural Fire Protection District was called to address several grass fires across the region.

Rural Fire Chief Kenny Roberts reported that one of the fires occurred approximately four miles east of Trenton, where an estimated 15 to 20 acres of Conservation Reserve Program grass were consumed by flames. Another incident took place along the Highway 65 roadside, about four to five miles north of Trenton, scorching a small area of land.

Additionally, Roberts informed KTTN that the Laredo Fire Protection District attended to two fire incidents near Highway 6 in the northern part of their jurisdiction. Meanwhile, the Spickard Fire Protection District responded to a fire along Route Y.
