U.S. District Judge Matthew T. Schelp sentenced Davion Dixon, a 22-year-old from Ferguson, Missouri, to 7 years (86 months) in prison on Thursday. Dixon was caught with fentanyl, methamphetamine, and firearms on two separate occasions.

The first incident occurred on Oct. 31, 2022, when Dixon and others were in a stolen BMW involved in a shooting and subsequent crash in Richmond Heights, Missouri. Following the crash, Dixon discarded an AR-style pistol while fleeing the scene and was arrested in a nearby backyard.

Dixon’s second arrest happened on March 23, 2023, by the St. Louis County Police Department, following a warrant issued by the St. Louis County Circuit Court. Before his arrest, officers observed Dixon with another AR-style pistol. A search of Dixon’s home revealed the firearm along with a 60-round magazine and an “auto sear,” a device that, if installed, could convert the weapon to fully automatic. Under federal law, even an unattached auto sear is classified as a machine gun. The search also uncovered 16.67 grams of methamphetamine, 56 capsules containing fentanyl, and 2.078 grams of cocaine base.

Dixon pleaded guilty in May to five felonies, including possession with intent to distribute fentanyl, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, being a felon in possession of a machine gun, and two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The investigation involved the St. Louis County Police Department, the Richmond Heights Police Department, and the FBI. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jennifer Szczucinski.
