The Grundy County Sheriff’s Office reported the arrest of two men from the area on August 31.

Scotty Ireland, 54, of Chillicothe, was arrested in Livingston County on charges of felony stealing of $750 or more. His bond was set at $12,000 cash only, with special conditions prohibiting contact with the alleged victims. Ireland is scheduled to appear in the Associate Division of the Grundy County Circuit Court on September 10.

According to court documents, Ireland is accused of appropriating U.S. currency valued at $750 or more between April 17 and August 8, 2023. The funds reportedly belonged to a victim, and Ireland is alleged to have used deceit to obtain them. He purportedly told the alleged victim that he would install windows and required the money to purchase materials. However, this representation was reportedly false, and the victim, relying on the misrepresentation, was induced to part with the money.

Devin Aaron Pierce, 33, was arrested on a capias warrant for an alleged probation violation related to an original charge of felony delivery of a controlled substance, specifically excluding 35 grams or less of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids. His bond was set at $10,000 cash only, and his probation is set to be suspended. Pierce is scheduled for a court appearance in Division One of the Grundy County Circuit Court on September 12.

Court documents indicate that Pierce was accused of possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it in October 2021.
