Eldon man dies in rollover crash on Highway Z in Miller County

A 43-year-old man from Eldon, Missouri, died in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday evening, August 17, 2024. The accident occurred on Highway Z, approximately 1,630 feet south of Old Martin Farm Road in Miller County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Steven A. Buckner was driving a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck northbound when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch. The truck rolled over and came to rest, resulting in fatal injuries to Buckner. He was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Miller County Coroner Tim Bradley pronounced Buckner deceased at the scene at 6:43 p.m. His body was transported to Phillips Funeral Home in Eldon.

This incident marks the third fatality for Troop F in August and the 29th for 2024.

The crash was investigated by Trooper T. M. Rayhart, with assistance from Sergeant M. J. Cody, Sergeant M. P. Acord, and Trooper S. W. Mahaney.
