A single-vehicle accident occurred on Highway 190, nine miles west of Chillicothe, Missouri, at approximately 10 p.m. on August 30, 2024, resulting in moderate injuries for one person. The crash involved a 2008 Nissan Altima driven by Emily A. Prewitt, 39, of Chillicothe, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident happened as the Nissan Altima was traveling westbound on Highway 190. The vehicle veered off the north side of the roadway, and the driver, Prewitt, attempted to correct the vehicle’s path. This overcorrection caused the car to cross the center line and exit the road on the south side. The Nissan struck an embankment and overturned once before coming to rest on its wheels, partially obstructing the eastbound lane and facing northwest.

Prewitt, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, sustained moderate injuries. She was transported to Hedrick Medical Center by Chillicothe EMS for medical treatment.

The vehicle sustained extensive damage and was towed from the scene by Gabrielson’s Towing.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol, along with assistance from Sergeant J.C. Gilliland and the Livingston County Sheriff’s Department, responded to the scene.
