Driver ejected from Jeep Wrangler after striking deer west of Milan

In an accident early Thursday morning, a Harris, Missouri, man was hospitalized after his vehicle struck a deer, traveled off the roadway, overturned, and ejected him. The incident occurred approximately 1.5 miles west of Milan on Highway E, at around 5:40 a.m., according to reports from the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Jose Vazquez, 43, was driving a 1998 Jeep Wrangler westbound on Highway E when the collision with a deer led to the vehicle overturning. Vazquez, who was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Sullivan County Ambulance to Sullivan County Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The Jeep Wrangler sustained total damage and was towed from the scene by Litrell’s towing service. 

The Sullivan County Sheriff’s Department and the Milan Fire Department assisted at the scene of the crash.
