Driver ejected and seriously injured in crash east of Paris

A 28-year-old man from Troy, Missouri, was seriously injured in an accident that occurred shortly after midnight on August 4, 2024, in Monroe County. The crash happened on County Road 581, about 13 miles east of Paris.

Colt A. Schuman was driving a 2021 Can-Am Commander XT southbound when the vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway. Schuman attempted to correct the vehicle’s path, causing it to overturn and eject him from the vehicle.

Schuman, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained serious injuries and was transported by Survival Flight 3 to University Hospital in Columbia.

The incident was responded to by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Paris Fire Department, and Monroe County Ambulance.
