Driver ejected after crashing into utility pole in Keytesville

A 49-year-old man was seriously injured in a crash early Saturday morning at the intersection of Ridge Street and State Street in Keytesville, according to a report by the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:25 a.m. when a 2001 Polaris Trailblazer, traveling westbound, failed to negotiate a turn and collided with a utility pole. The impact of the collision ejected the driver, identified as Chuck S. McKinstry of Keytesville, Missouri.

McKinstry, who was not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the crash, sustained serious injuries. He was transported by MU-3 to University Hospital in Columbia for medical treatment.

The Chariton County EMS and Chariton County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene. The vehicle sustained minor damage and was left at the scene.
